The Jets selected Colorado wide receiver Scotty McKnight with their final pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.
New York coach Rex Ryan insists that it was McKnight's play and not his connection to quarterback Mark Sanchez that led to the selection.
Sanchez and McKnight were childhood buddies.
"I feel so grateful just to be drafted," McKnight told The Star-Ledger on Sunday. "But deep down, I was hoping I would go to the Jets."
The two have been friends since the receiver was 8 years old, yet they have never played on the same team.
